The early stages of childhood are incredibly important for a child’s development. When it comes to learning, there’s a tough balance for parents in teaching and keeping a child’s attention. While kids are growing their knowledge and developing their skills at school, it’s still vital to find a way to get your kids engaging, learning, and strengthening their cognitive abilities while at home. Lucky for parents, there are some amazing tools you can use at home that are both engaging for kids, and help in cognitive development. One of the most popular we have found that parents seem to love is the HOMER App. So we decided to do a HOMER App review, and see if it’s worth your investment.
HOMER App Review – What is HOMER?
HOMER is an early learning program for children ages 2-8, that pushes a personalized curriculum towards a child’s interest and needs. More than just a learning app, HOMER showcases itself as an “activity center” of sorts. The HOMER app is more of an educational hub for kids to jump in and begin learning and developing through a unique and personalized curriculum.
HOMER App Review – What Does It Teach?
HOMER teaches based on two things: your child’s age, and the subject you want them to develop on. Based on your child’s age and learning development, courses and activities will be specific to their current abilities. Subjects that your children will engage with through the HOMER app are as follows:
- Reading – Step by step path to early literacy. HOMER helps kids from identifying letters as special symbols to developing academic vocabulary and expanding their knowledge of sight words.
- Math – HOMER takes kids through stages of mathematical development. From early learning of spatial concepts and verbal counting to number operations and geometry.
- Social and Emotional Learning – HOMER provides opportunities for children to build better social-emotional skills that they will need. From naming common emotions and establishing unique traits to communication skills and confidence-building.
- Creativity – HOMER kids will engage in all forms of creative thinking, such as analyzing art and music. Things like storytelling and growing imagination, connecting art to life, and understanding story creation.
- Thinking Skills – Kids will develop critical thinking skills through learning and play. From following simple instructions and making connections between images and words to complex categorizing and problem-solving.
HOMER App Review – How Are Kids Taught?
HOMER teaches the 5 subjects listed above by way of learning games, activities and stories. When you first sign up for HOMER, you’ll be asked a series of questions to gauge the level your child is at. Things like your child’s age, their specific abilities at that time, what they can and can’t do, etc.
From here, based on the answers given, the HOMER app will curate specific activities to help engage your child in specific subjects and activities. On any given day, your child can log on to the app, and is greeted to a menu of different subjects, activities, and daily tasks. These activities work to highlight growth opportunities where your child’s development may be lacking or needs a boost.
As your child grows and continues to develop their skills, the activities and games grow and develop with them. This way, HOMER is more of an educational journey that your kids will undergo, and enjoy along the way.
