Last Minute Halloween Costumes for the Procrastinators

Between work, school, and all those household chores, you somehow haven’t got around to getting Halloween costumes for the family. Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. The good news is that there are lots of great Halloween costumes available online. Below, we’ve put together a guide to some of our favorite last minute Halloween costumes.

Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas for the Little Ones

Little Witch or Wizard

If you’re looking for a bewitching Halloween costume that you can probably throw together with only 1 or 2 items from the store, transform your little one into a witch or wizard! Simply dress your little girl in a dress or your boy in a single-colored outfit. Give her a pointy witch’s hat and add in a cape for him (you can either buy one at a costume shop or create one with a black piece of fabric and some buttons or safety pins).

For those feeling extra magical, spread some child-safe glitter across their cheeks or stick some stars onto their outfits!

Animal Costumes

Does your little one love a particular animal? As children explore the world around them, they start to learn about the other species with whom we share this wonderful planet. Whether your little one dreams of being a bunny, cat, horse, monkey, lion, or any other animal, give them the chance to be one for a night. All you need is an animal suit (or an outfit the same color as the animal, if you’re looking for stuff you have around the house) and some headgear and makeup.

If you’re wanting to save money, you can create the headwear yourself, too! For example, if your little one wants to be a monkey, take a headband and attach two round, felt-shaped ears to it. For children who want to be a lion, wrap party streamers around the headband to create an attractive mane.

Angel

Your little one is the light of your world, so show just how brilliantly glorious they are by putting them in an angel costume! To do this, either get a costume at the store or grab a long, flowy white dress. Then, take some wire, twist it so it goes around the crown of your child’s head, and then thread a sparkly gold boa around it.

If you want a little more flow, get an old, white sheet and pin it around your child’s body.

Did someone say his name 3 times?

Everyone’s favorite comedic demon is back this year, so there’s no better time to find some fun people to haunt. And if you want your whole family in on the fun, dress your wife and daughter up as Lydia and Astrid Deetz.

For those looking to use what they have at home, take an all-white outfit and spray paint black stripes. Then use some temporary hair dye to get your hair green or white, and then use face paint to recreate Beetlejuice’s face.
